Hello Band Families,
Friday is a BIG DAY for the Spartan Band with our Kickin it with Kenny performance in Cleveland and an away game that evening with Norton.
Kickin it with Kenny Information-
Report time is 5:00am. The buses will arrive at 5, we will be loaded and pulling out by 5:05. Being late is not optional, being late means being left behind as we are on a tight schedule that morning. With that in mind, the band room will be unlocked at 4:30am. Please do not arrive earlier than 4:30. At that time students will gather their things and get suited up in their greys. Before boarding the bus students need to ensure that they have their garment bag with their band jacket, their baseball cap, their flip folders with the correct music, and have their instrument loaded on the bus or truck. Additionally students should plan to bring a snack or breakfast to eat on the road. Lunch will not be till about 12:30 and we don’t want hangry children.
The truck will be arriving on Thursday so that we can load it after rehearsal. Percussion, and large instruments will need to prepare to stay Thursday until the truck is loaded. All other instruments that go on the band bus will load on Friday morning as the bus does not lock.
After our performances are over–
Students will change out of their band uniforms, but bear in mind, changing will happen on the bus. The Rock Hall does not want students changing clothes in the bathroom, so plan to wear clothes underneath your uniform or bring clothes that can be changed discreetly on the bus. After we’ve changed we will have the opportunity to attend an educational program on why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland and why CLE is considered the birthplace of Rock and Roll. Following the program students will be able to explore the many displays and exhibits in the rock hall. Students will also have access to the gift shop if they would like to bring money for a souvenir. Around 11:30 students will gather in the lobby, and we will load buses and depart for lunch.
Lunch-
Students will fill out a google form this week with their lunch intentions. We will be stopping in the Montrose area and the options are McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chick Fil A, and Wendys. Students will need to complete the google form by Wednesday this week as it will determine their bus assignments for the ride home. Please make sure your child has money to purchase lunch. If your child is on the free/reduced lunch program and would like to request a sack lunch from the school please let me know by Wednesday so that I can make arrangements to get those.
We plan to be back to school between 1:30 and 2:00pm.
Norton Football Game-
We will be leaving the truck loaded with the percussion and large instruments after we return, but again will need to unload smaller instruments from the band bus as it does not lock. With this in mind we will not be doing a run through prior to departing for Norton. Report time will be 5:30, which will allow time for students to get in their greys and load smaller instruments before our 5:45 departure. I will send a remind when we are on our way back from Norton. As it has been a long day for all of us, please be prompt when picking up your child so that we can all get home and get the rest we will have earned!
